Boil away all the speculation, and ask yourself this; did Martin (the dead teen) do anything that Zimmerman (the shooter) could reasonably say was threatening? Zimmerman's own statements indicate that he did not. Zimmerman pursued Martin, who was not bothering Zimmerman at all. After Zimmerman set out in pursuit of Martin (we know he did based on his conversation with 911), all we know is that Martin was shot and killed by Zimmerman. But the key point here is that Zimmerman, not Martin, initiated the contact. If he'd have simply minded his own business, a 17 year old boy would be alive right now. Yet due to a quirk of a questionable law in Florida, Zimmerman faces no repercussions for shooting and killing another human being who was unarmed and minding his own business.
That is not justice...it is anarchy. It sets a precedent that says you can kill based solely on a whim. It puts us back on the playing field of the Wild West in the 1800s. Chasing down, then killing, and unarmed person is wrong. Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty, true...but there will never be a question of charges given the law in Florida. He shot and klled an unarmed man, and was simply questioned and sent on his way. How is that in any way logical?
