Strike a blow for equal rights...Vermont legislature passes bill to legalize same-sex marriage AND overrides the governor's veto

Vermont's House and Senate voted Tuesday to override the governor's veto of a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state.

The Senate voted 23-5 to override Gov. Jim Douglas' veto, according to the Senate office. Shortly afterward, the House overrode the veto on a 100-49 vote. The votes surpassed the number needed -- two-thirds of those present -- to override the veto.

No one can complain that this was judicial activism...the legislature of the state, elected by the people, passed the bill by an overwhelming majority. The veto is a state constitution process that was legally met.

So, it's the will of the people. No doubts.
