Merrill Lynch's chief executive John Thain has dropped his request for a $10 million annual bonus after being blasted by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
Thain requested at a board meeting on Monday that Merrill's compensation committee not award him a bonus for 2008, and the board of directors accepted that request, Merrill Lynch said.
Thain had reportedly previously asked for a bonus of up to $10 million, which prompted Cuomo to send a strongly worded letter to Merrill's board of directors in which he called Thain's request for a bonus "nothing less than shocking."
Can you believe the sheer gall of this no-talent assclown? He drove his company into the toilet so far that it required a government-brokered bailout (via Bank of America) to "save" it, and he has the balls to ask for a $10 million BONUS? For what, being incompetent? I do my job right (even, not to pat my own back, very well) and get to be happy with simply getting paid (and having a pretty nice Christmas party), yet this assmonkey thinks that he deserves $10 million FOR FAILING? I have a better idea...tie his pay to company performance, which right now would mean he'd barely be getting minimum wage (and that's more than he deserves).
It's stories like this that make me feel absolutely no sympathy...no, make that negative sympathy...for people in the financial sector. Screw all of them...as far as I'm concerned they can all go to work for minimum wage, and if there is any justice in the world their new job will get outsourced to India.
