McCain turns to that old GOP campaign standby...fear...

Sen. Barack Obama's foreign policy positions could encourage America's enemies to test it during the early days of an Obama administration, Sen. John McCain said Wednesday.

"And the thing that probably may encourage them a little is that Sen. Obama has been wrong," McCain said in an interview to be aired on CNN's "The Situation Room" at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday.

"He was wrong about the surge in Iraq. He still fails to acknowledge that he was wrong. I mean, remarkable," the Republican presidential nominee continued.

"He was wrong when he said Georgia should show restraint. He was wrong when he said he would sit down across the table from Ahmadinejad, Chavez and the Castro brothers. He was wrong about those. So I can understand why the American people might be concerned."

Enemies would not similarly challenge McCain, he said, because he's already been tried.

"They know I've been tested," he said. "They know I've been tested. I've been tested many times."

Typical...just like George W. Bush, who implied when running against Kerry in 2004 that if he were not reelected that we'd be attacked. Fear-mongering. How many times has the Bush Administration been wrong...let's see, Iraq is a big one...but that doesn't seem to count. Major, MAJOR foreign policy blunder by a Republican President is a pass for McCain.

And how has McCain been "tested" in terms of foreign policy? He, like Obama, is a Senator, not a head of state. Just being in the military doesn't count for this...it's silly to suggest that experience as a jet pilot gives one some miraculous insight into foreign policy.

McCain is desperate...and he is now playing to fear (like his surrogates have been doing all along, with the false smears against Obama). He wants to scare people, by implying another 9/11 unless we elect him.

It's a bullshit tactic, and it just makes McCain look like a sad old has-been. Republicans and their tactics disgust me. After months of this type of campaigning, I wouldn't vote for McCain for any reason.
