George Carlin was a rare genius, one who not only made us laugh but made us think. This man had more common sense and was more honest and truthful than any elected official since possibly George Washington. He was possibly the smartest stand-up comic, and he perfected the art of showing us what a joke we really were.
If only more people would have listened to him. He saw many years ago just where we were headed, and he made a point many times to tell us, but it was too easy for many to simply dismiss him as a comedian. He was an astute scholar of the American condition.
We need more like him.
