Bush, the GOP, and their myth of being "pro-military"

Bush is often (mistakenly) thought of as "pro-military", despite never having actively served. The GOP is often thought of as the "pro-military" party, despite having high ranking members who have never served or actively served (like five deferment Dick Cheney).

A measure that would increase education benefits to veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan also passed by a vote of 266-166, short of the two-thirds needed to override the promised veto by President Bush.

Yeah, Bush's threat to veto increased education for vets is really "pro" military. If you look at bills concerning veterans in the past several years, the generally perceived "anti" military party (Democrats) are actually championing better veterans and active duty benefits and pays.

And yet vets and military personnel still support Republicans...guess if you lie enough, you can get anyone to believe you.
